Mark Prince spoke at a seminar teaching lawyers from Illinois and Missouri different techniques for taking depositions of key witnesses and experts. His talk covered many basics, but also contained advice on advanced theories of deposing expert witnesses. “I am honored to be asked to share my thoughts on this topic, to give back to the legal community and to help other lawyers protect their clients,” Mark said when asked why he speaks at so many of these types of seminars.

Previous Engagements

  • August, 2018: Mark Prince offered a statement to the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association about a veto the Governor placed that would limit the abilities of victims of negligence to file civil charges against state institutions. Statement was covered here as well.
  • August, 2018: Mark Prince spoke with Chicago Lawyer about becoming a president of the Trial Lawyers Association and what changes he hopes to bring to the Illinois legal industry with his presidency.
  • June, 2017: Mark Prince spoke with WSIL 3 and gave his thoughts about the calls for lawsuit reform in Illinois.
  • January 13, 2016: Mark was interviewed by WSIL-TV about his role as lead counsel representing corn farmers.  The defendant, Syngenta, had filed a motion with the Illinois Supreme Court asking that cases be consolidated in a county in suburban Chicago.  Mark successfully argued that all cases filed in Illinois should be consolidated in Williamson County.
  • February 16, 2015: At an Illinois Trial Lawyer seminar in Chicago, Mark lectured about how to prepare your client for her testimony at trial. Mark explained that the lawyer needs to properly prepare the client for her trial testimony in order to maximize the chances of winning. The speech was very well received by the audience of more than 200 people.
  • September, 2013: At an Illinois Trial Lawyer Association seminar, Mark was asked to talk about the very difficult task of deciding which cases to accept. Mark was able to draw on his nearly 25 years of experience to go over some of the most important considerations that go into making such an important decision. Not only must the lawyer consider whether he wants to take the case, he must also determine whether he thinks he is the best lawyer for the client.
  • March 7, 2013: Mark Prince presented a seminar on ways to determine a wrong-doer’s potential sources of insurance coverage . This seminar was sponsored by the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
  • September 28, 2012: Mark was asked to present a speech concerning how to maximize your client’s personal injury recovery through understanding how insurance coverage works. Mark talked about what needs to be done to explore all potential sources of insurance coverage that the wrong-doer might have.
  • November 5, 2011: At the request of the Worker’s Compensation Committee of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, Mark traveled to Oak Brook, Illinois, to explain the 2011 amendments to the Illinois Worker’s Compensation Act. Mark was invited to speak on this topic because he spent countless hours and days in Springfield, Illinois in January-March 2011 helping to negotiate the amendments in an effort to minimize any negative impact to injured workers across the State.
  • March 5, 2011: Mark Prince was once again asked to speak about various issues when representing an injured person on an “Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist” case. Although there are several landmines that an attorney must be aware of to successfully represent his client in this area of the law, Mark focused on some of the basic strategies necessary to preserve an uninsured or underinsured claim against the insurance company.
  • September 16, 2010: Mark was invited to discuss “Insurance Coverage” issues at an Illinois Trial Lawyers Association seminar in St. Louis, Missouri. The thrust of Mark’s presentation was to educate the younger lawyers in the audience about how to understand the complex language that insurance companies use in insurance policies. Mark also discussed how to overcome certain arguments that insurance companies will come up with to avoid having to compensate an injured person.
  • March 27, 2010: Mark discussed various issues concerning “Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Insurance Coverage” at a seminar in Springfield, Illinois. The seminar was sponsored by the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association.
  • October 9, 2009: Mark spoke at the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association Seminar. Mark spoke on issues that often come up in automobile collision cases that involve uninsured and/or underinsured motorists insurance coverage.
